There is a chill in the air this morning, and you can feel the energy here in our little community. Excitement abounds as we bring out boots, scarves and sweaters. In fact, a few people are in full blown winter blizzard wear at 65 degrees. I have to admire the excitement behind the effort!
Some people are smiling, and relishing the cooler weather while others are quickly feeling the tension of the approaching holidays. Finances, pressure of family gatherings, and crowded parking lots quickly squelch the joy for many.
That was me. STRESSED OUT. I found myself rushing through the holidays trying to frantically check off my to-do list. At the end of the season, I rolled into the new year exhausted, in debt, heavier, and realized that I really did not get to enjoy the season for the beauty that was all around me. I let myself stir into a stress frenzy.
Take a moment to slow down for just 10 minutes today. Take a few deep breaths, and acknowledge all the beauty around us right now like the crisp breezes, the colors on the trees, a child’s face excited about holiday decorations or a smiling pet who is just happy to see you. The world is full of beautiful things all around you if you are willing
to slow down for a moment to notice them!
